Are you among the many people who have been hit by cupid’s arrow and fallen in love with chicken? It’s no surprise; when cooked to perfection, how can you resist its moistness, flavour and simple perfection?

This Valentine’s Day, chicken can join the festivities to make date night extra special and keep your heart healthy!

Date Night with Chicken

The lights are dim, candles are setting the mood and there is a table for 2 adorned with roses.  From the kitchen, there’s something extra special being made for Valentine’s Day date night…and of course, it involves chicken!

Chicken is the best protein to cook for date night – and here are some reasons why:

#1 – Easy to prepare

Romantic meals don’t need to be fussy.  You will want to keep it simple so you and your valentine can enjoy each others company; not worrying about whether the kitchen is about to burn down!  Maybe try cooking with your partner …or they can watch you cook – whatever you prefer!

Need an aphrodisiac to spark the mood?  This roast chicken recipe uses truffles and truffle oil to really kick up the romance.

#2 – No Mess

Chicken recipes can be made so you minimize on mess. Really, who wants to do endless amounts of dishes after dinner – isn’t that time to cozy up by a warm fire?  Select recipes that only use 1 or 2 pots/pans.

Here is a great option that is easy to eat as well (no messy sauces!):

#3 – Recipes for Two

Since you’re making a meal for two – you may want to scale back a recipe and only use the exact amount of ingredients needed.  No worries!  Even if you buy chicken breasts, thighs or legs in bulk – you can freeze the leftovers for another day.

This is a luxurious stuffed chicken breast recipe that can easily be halved for a party of 2!

#4 – Heart Healthy

Since Valentine’s Day takes place during Heart Month, you can feel good knowing that chicken is a heart healthy option.   Chicken is low in fat, high in protein and often the star of heart healthy meals.  Fun in the kitchen can be as simple as making a heart healthy pizza with your partner.   Try this Chicken Cacciatore Pizza.  The whole grain crust makes it even more heart healthy.  If you’re worried about the garlic breath, you can leave it out or bring your mouthwash!

Happy Heart Day!
