Pad Thai is a classic take-away meal, but there’s no reason you can’t make this yummy noodle dish at home. Made with tamarind, rice noodles, chicken, and a plethora of other delicious ingredients, Pad Thai is perfect as an accompaniment to other Thai dishes or on its own as a main meal. It has some unique ingredients, such as tamarind, but don’t let that scare you away. Tamarind is a cooking paste popular in Thai cuisine and adds that distinctive fruity flavour familiar in many Thai dishes. You can find it at most Asian stores and many regular grocery stores nowadays.
There’s a bit of work involved prep wise–from soaking the noodles to straining the tamarind–but trust us when we say it’s worth the extra time. Once all the prep work is done it’s simply a matter of frying all the ingredients together in a wok or large frying pan. Add in some shrimp for a real authentic meal.
