Chicken Farmers of Canada is proud to be partnering with Swimming Canada on initiatives which promote healthy living. Fresh Canadian chicken plays an important role in a healthy diet and lifestyle, which is why Swimming Canada has recognized and announced “chicken as the official protein of swimming in Canada.” A well-balanced diet containing lean protein, and a wide variety of whole grains, fruits and vegetables provides Canadians, including swimmers from the national team down to children learning to swim, the nutrition needed for all sports and a healthy, active lifestyle!
In recognition of our proud partnership for healthy living, Chicken Farmers of Canada has created four friendly mascots known as the “Pool Peeps.” As part of the official partnership launch, Chicken Farmers of Canada and Swimming Canada are running a contest to find names for two of these lovable cartoon chickens who enjoy swimming.
The “Name the Pool Peeps” contest encourages Canadians to submit name suggestions for two of the “Peeps.” The yet-to-be-named “Peeps” will join their already-named brothers Kicker and Splash in future initiatives to encourage young swimmers to practice safe and healthy behavior around water.
Name suggestions can be sent to email@example.com through June 19, and two $100 gift certificates to Toys R Us will be awarded to the winners. For further information to enter the contest, please visit “Name the Pool Peeps” contest.
Although the organizations are officially launching the partnership with the #PoolPeeps contest, they have already begun working together. Swimming Canada features a health article every week from Chicken Farmers of Canada through their e-bulletin which you can subscribe to on swimming.ca by clicking on the LOGIN/SIGNUP button on the top right corner. In the e-bulletin, readers will find useful and up-to-date nutrition information about health issues that matter most to Canadians, as well as the latest news on what’s happening in competitive and recreational swimming across Canada.
This week the partners are featuring a fantastic health article from our Atlantic Canadian dietitian Luke Corey, who has been working closely with Chicken Farmers of Canada to communicate the nutritional benefits of chicken in competitive and recreational swimming.
Chicken Farmers of Canada and Swimming Canada will continue to work together as partners for healthy living. Follow us on Twitter & Facebook for contests and updates! Join us at prominent Swimming Canada events and, if you are in the National Capital Region on Canada Day, join us – in person – for the Great Canadian Chicken BBQ at Major’s Hill Park. This event has been a hallmark for Canadians living within or visiting Ottawa for over a decade. It’s a chicken BBQ not to be missed!
