Allocation:  The allocation by CFC to a province for a period fixing the quantity of chicken that may be marketed by producers of that province in interprovincial and export trade.

Consumer Price Index (CPI): An index of consumer-related purchase prices.

Consumption: Total domestic consumption in a given time period, includes domestic production, imports of chicken products and any chicken products that are moved into the market from frozen stocks and excludes any exports and chicken products that move into frozen inventories. Per capita consumption also includes an estimate for on-farm consumption.

Ending Stocks:
Level of frozen inventories at the end of the month or year.

Farm Cash Receipts (FCR): The cash income received from the sale of agriculture commodities as well as direct program payments made to support the agricultural sector.

Further Processing: The production of value-added or specialized chicken products such as skinned and deboned breasts, nuggets, TV dinners and pot pies.

Opening Stocks: Level of frozen inventories at the beginning of the month or year.

  • Period A-63: January 9 – March 5, 2005
  • Period A-64: March 6 – April 30, 2005
  • Period A-65: May 1 – June 25, 2005
  • Period A-66: June 26 – August 20, 2005
  • Period A-67: August 21 – October 15, 2005
  • Period A-68: October 16 – December 10, 2005
  • Period A-69: December 11, 2005February 4, 2006
  • Period A-70 February 5, 2006 – April 1, 2006
  • Period A-71 April 2, 2006 – May 27, 2006
  • Period A-72 May 28, 2006 – July 22, 2006
  • Period A-73 July 23, 2006 – September 16, 2006

Processor Price: Price paid to processors by their buyers for chicken (per kg, eviscerated weight).

Producer Price: Price paid to producers by processors for chicken (per kg, live weight).

Retail Price: Price paid by consumers for chicken, including specials (per kg, eviscerated weight).

Supplementary Imports: Imports requiring a special import permit to accommodate temporary market shortages, granted by Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ): Annual volume of imports of chicken and chicken products allowed into Canada at in-quota tariff rates. The TRQ, which is equal to 7.5% of the previous year’s production, is administered through permits issued by foreign Affairs and International Trade.
